services

We are proud to offer a diverse range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients while promoting sustainable forest management in BC's most

complex and challenging forest environments.

Whether it's wildfire mitigation, timber harvesting, urban forestry, reforestation or ecological consulting, we are dedicated to enhancing the health of our forests

for generations to come.

Industrial Tree
Work & Climbing

Manual tree work is one of our foundational elements. From commercial windfirming and single-stem, to falling and tree hazard mitigation, our team has climbed, felled, or worked on some of the most challenging trees in some of the harshest environments in BC. Tackling tough tree projects safely and productively is what we do.

We are not your average local tree service company - we are a specialty commercial crew designed to efficiently tackle industrial-scale, tree-related projects and challenges. And.. we do the odd backyard tree here and there too!

Examples include:

  • Conventional and standing-stem forest harvesting

  • Windfirming

  • Hazard tree mitigation

  • Utility vegetation management

  • Wildlife tree creation

Commercial Thinning

IOG is leading a resurgence in true commercial thinning in BC. Utilizing European-inspired technology and processes, we are helping to change the way BC thinks about ground-based forest harvesting. This includes:

  • True high-retention commercial thinning

  • CT equipment fleet includes three high-production harvesters, two full-sized forwarders, and a short-log self-loader

Utilities

With our core forestry and heli experience combined with an amazing team of utility arborists, machine operators, climbers, fallers, and tree professionals, IOG has been helping to protect BC’s utility grid from tree-related hazards for years.

We have also developed and/or operated specialized equipment for broad-scale access and vegetation management.

  • Hazard tree mitigation

  • Tree work in proximity to transmission lines (Certified Utility Arborists on staff)

  • New line right-of-way clearing, falling, and logging

  • Existing right-of-way vegetation maintenance

  • Debris management and chipping

  • Remote access management including helipads, road reestablishment, and brushing

wildfire MITIGATION

Forestry and wildfire mitigation go hand in hand. We’ve been leveraging our team’s skillsets and developing specialized equipment to manage forests around homes and communities for greater fire resilience and community safety.

Working with various municipalities, government agencies and private landowners, we have reduced fire risk for over 500ha of forest across BC. As far as we know, we are also the first company to develop and operate a custom midi-sized feller buncher specifically for small tree felling on fire mitigation projects. Just one of the innovations we are pursuing to increase our productivity and efficiency for this critical work.

  • Mechanized fire mitigation utilizing a fleet of midi-sized equipment.

  • Reduce fire risk by thinning excess and/or dead vegetation down to tolerable densities and adequately processing debris.

  • Fleet includes a custom 145-sized feller-buncher with hot-saw harvesting head designed for small-diameter trees. Other equipment includes zero-tail swing excavators and a bandit 15” tracked chipper.

  • Utilizing smaller equipment helps to reduce scarring and damage to residual trees.

  • Chipping greatly reduces residual vegetation waste and leaves a clean professional look.

Heli

Utilizing helicopters for forestry projects is a big part of what we do. From getting to work to flying logs, helicopters have been integral to our business since our inception.

Our deep understanding of costs and capacities as well as partnerships with BC’s main heli operators is what sets us apart from others.

  • Remote access for industrial and commercial forestry projects

  • “Stump-to-dump” conventional and single stem heli logging

  • Heli yarding project management

  • Remote access vegetation management for utilities

  • Remote access tree falling and hazard mitigation
